Color image compression based on spatial and magnitude signal decomposition

<p>In this paper, a simple color image compression system has been proposed using signal decomposition. Where, the RGB band is converted to less correlated YUV model and pixel value (magnitude) in each decomposed into 2-values; most least significant. According importance of significant (MSV) that influenced by any simply modification happened, an adaptive lossless bit plane (BP) slicing, delta pulse code modulation (Delta PCM), quadtree (QT) partitioning followed shift encoder. On other hand, lossy introduced handle (LSV), it based on adaptive, error bounded coding system, uses DCT scheme. The performance developed was analyzed compared with those attained from universal standard JPEG, results applying indicated its comparable or better than JPEG standards.</p>
